I'm a PTA also in CA (southern). Here are my suggestions: Have you assessed the coursework that they require with what you have taken? Most PT programs require a certain GPA. Some of those classes expire after I think 5 years like the anatomy and physiology classes and I believe for PT school they should be taken separately not combined A&P. If you find that you are spending more time applying than moving forward, I agree with plan B, consider PTA school. It's shorter and cheaper. The program is very challenging so by no means necessarily an easy way out but you will be able to get in and get out and make a decent living in many if not most states. Those classes do not transfer over to PT school but you might find you are just as happy or happier as a PTA. Have you considered looking into an OT program? or nursing? Nurses make very good money and you'll pretty much have a job anywhere you go in any setting for any shift! Some states allow you to start as LPN/LVN and then transfer the classes to RN and then eventually to Nurse practitioner if you wish. There are also many specialties and many employers pay for classes because there is said to be a shortage of nurses. You can also consider physician assistant however, in most states this is a masters degree. There may be 1 or 2 programs left at the associate level however, they require you to have been a paramedic or licensed nurse. Becoming a personal training or yoga or Pilates trainer might be an even quicker start and will allow you to transfer some of the skills from rehab aide. This might buy you some time in order to figure things out. Keep in mind personal training will probably be the quickest and cheapest route. Yoga and Pilates training are usually a few months long but around 3-5k each. Make sure you find a good program that reviews anatomy and has working graduates. Good luck!
